Dynamos seeks revenge against Highlanders

DYNAMOS FC is hoping to stage a perfect revenge this Sunday when they play old rivals Highlanders.

Popularly known as ‘Dembare’, the Harare side lost to Highlanders 1-0 last month in the Jairos Jiri Charity Cup match played at Barbourfields Stadium.

Coming from last week’s a 2-1 win against Tel One at Ascot Stadium, Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe is confident his side will stage a good performance against the Bulawayo giants, affectionately known as ‘Bosso’.

“This a different game all together, during our last meeting it was a cup game and also we were trying combinations.

“So, now we have to do better and win because its new game and we have to win,” said Mangombe.

Dynamos started its 2026 season campaign on a bad note, following a 5-0 humiliating defeat in the Castle Challenge Cup against Scottland FC.

However, Mangombe added that the team’s sluggish start was due to the club’s financial struggles, which has since been solved.

“It’s always good as a coach to work with a motivated team. I want to thank the executive for working on that because the boys received their salaries for January and February.

“So, we are ready to go because everything is in place for us to get maximum points,” added Mangombe.

Dynamos last beat Highlanders in a league match 10 years ago and they will be hoping to break that jinx this Sunday afternoon.
