Nollywood actor Kunle Afod has voiced deep concern over the distressing condition of veteran actress Iru Eshin after paying her a visit in Ede, Osun State.

The Yoruba film star shared that what he encountered during the visit left him emotionally shaken. According to him, the actress is currently struggling after heavy rainfall severely damaged her home.

“After a long time, I decided to visit Mama Iru Eshin in Ede, Osun State… but what I met was heartbreaking,” he said.

Afod went on to describe the extent of the damage and the veteran’s current situation, emphasizing how painful it was to witness someone who has contributed so much now facing hardship.

“Her house has been destroyed by heavy rain. A woman who has given so much to people is now left with almost nothing. What a painful sight… what a pity.”

Using the moment to call for collective responsibility, the actor urged Nigerians to come to her aid, stressing the importance of supporting one another, especially industry veterans.

“This is more than just a visit — it’s a reminder that we need to check on our own, support one another, and not wait until it’s too late. If you can help in any way, please do. Little support can bring back hope.”

Afod’s compassionate gesture comes shortly after he received commendations for similar acts of kindness toward veteran actors such as Kola Oyewo and Peter Fatomilola, whom he had also visited to show support and respect.

The actor has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to caring for older colleagues in the industry. He previously explained that assisting veterans brings him fulfillment, noting that everyone will eventually reach that stage in life, and the legacy one leaves behind matters.

Over the years, Afod has built a reputation for rallying support for struggling veterans. In one instance, he raised over ₦600,000 for veteran actor Baba Ariyo after revealing the difficult living conditions he had endured for decades as a tenant.

He has also made several emotional visits within the industry, including a condolence trip to Ibadan to comfort Tunbosun Odunsi following the loss of his wife.

Afod once shared his admiration after visiting Charles Olumo, expressing surprise at the late actor’s lively spirit at the time. He prayed to enjoy similar grace in old age.

In addition, he has used his platform to advocate for other veterans like Iya Niwen, calling on colleagues to help revive her acting career, and also visited Lere Paimo, where his appeal led to generous financial support from Nigerians.

Through these efforts, Kunle Afod continues to highlight the importance of remembering and supporting the pioneers of Nollywood.
