Abike Shugga has shared her account of events involving her professional relationship with Toyin Abraham, offering details about how their working connection developed and later changed.

According to Abike, her journey in the entertainment space gained early attention after she began creating fashion content during the COVID-19 period. She explained that she invested in a sewing machine, built her craft, and eventually gained online visibility, which opened doors for collaborations within the industry.

She recalled that Toyin Abraham later reached out after noticing her growing presence online. From there, she said she was brought into different projects, including appearances in productions such as Agoalago, where she also assisted with content creation and production support.

Abike stated that her involvement came with modest payments, noting that she typically received between ₦10,000 and ₦15,000 per session for some of her contributions, while a longer stay on set reportedly earned her around ₦50,000 for two weeks of work. She described the experience as part of her early exposure in the industry, where she was still building her profile.

However, she also contrasted this with other projects she worked on outside that collaboration, claiming she earned higher figures when she later partnered with other filmmakers. She mentioned receiving about $600 for a promotional assignment for one film and $800 for another series involvement. She further stated that she was paid ₦500,000 for a lead role in the film Malika, which required approximately two months of production work.

The situation, according to her, shifted when she accepted a promotional deal from another producer after informing Toyin Abraham in advance. Abike said she had observed Toyin promoting another colleague’s project and believed she was also free to take similar opportunities.

She alleged that this decision led to tension, including calls and voice notes expressing disappointment. She also claimed she was later asked to remove certain posts connected to the promotion and that the disagreement may have influenced her access to future roles, including one job opportunity she said was withdrawn after external pressure.

In response, Toyin Abraham has previously addressed the narrative in a reserved manner. She described Abike Shugga as someone she considers “like a daughter” and stated that she would not be engaging in public discussions about the matter.

She also rejected claims regarding unusually high payments to upcoming actors, including the figures mentioned, stating that such amounts do not reflect her production practices.
